Living with dementia at Château de Marly

In this design studio, we started from the existing shell of the Château de Marly and received the task of creating a shared living form for a target group of our choice.
I deliberately chose people with dementia, a vulnerable group that needs calm, recognizability, and safety within their living environment.
Through intensive research, literature, and listening to the podcast BOB from NPO Radio 1, I gained a deeper insight into their worldview and behaviour. I translated these insights into a design that responds to orientation, memory support, and connection.
Each resident receives their own colour code, which visually flows through the house and intuitively points them towards their private space. In the centre, there is a large shared living area, which, thanks to openings and views, is strongly connected to the outside world, essential for maintaining orientation and daily rhythm.
The output of this project consisted of a model and a series of plans that illustrate the concept in detail.
